Sorry I haven’t been here lately, life’s been thrown me more curve balls. But anyways, on to the fun stuff! I’ve been experimenting with fabric ink and block printing and it has been soooo much fun! I’ve screen printed before in high school but this was all new to me and, of corse, I was a little nervous…ya know….perfectionist and all…so for my fist try I decided to use some scrap fabric and try to make some cards.
It worked out great, I was able to get a feel for what stamps work and what ones don’t and how much ink is too much. I’ll be making them into cards real soon and I’ll share more pictures, they’re coming together super cute! : )
So after the cards I was feeling pretty confident and I decide to try out my bicycle stamps I got specifically for fabric printing. I got my stamps from an AMAZING Etsy shop, Underdog Press, they were truly fanatic and helped me get exactly what I needed, and all their stamps are really cool, I would highly recommend them.
Being the crazy perfectionist that I am I was worried that I would need to measure out every little stamp to get the spacing just right but I really wanted to find another way cuz that would just take forever! So I played about with no measuring! and it turned out pretty good : )
I did all of these on scrap fabric with no measuring what so ever and I’m actually really happy with how they turned out. I think I’m gonna use them to make some large change purses…..maybe with tassels….I’m craving to add tassels so something lately…..lol
Since they were just happy excitements I’m not concerned about making them into a line of coordinating bags just yet, I’ve got a do a little more planning before that gets underway…..I can only keep the perfectionist in a cage for so long
I’m also experimenting with using the fabric ink to ice dye, indigo dye, and splatter paint. I’ll share more pictures of that soon….the dyeing needs a second try but the splatter paint turned out so cool! I cant wait to get more colors and just go crazy with it : ) I have to wait till the weather wants up thought, I bought my ink from a website located in California, Dharma Trading Co. and on their site it says if the ink freezes in the shipping process it will be ruined, I had to pay more in shipping than the ink cost just to get 3 bottles to Michigan quickly! ugg,….. but the weather will warm up soon enough and till then I’ve got plenty to keep me busy : )
Well I hope your all having a fantastic week!
